The reason white sharks kill is because when they see a human, they have a mistaken identity between humans and seals. Most people think this statement isn't true, but it's a known fact. When a shark bites a human and tastes their blood, that's when the white shark knows he just experienced a mistaken identity. Then, they just let the human go, but otherwise, if the shark still tries chasing the human in the water, it is that the white shark is hungry, and does not mind eating any type of blood between seals and humans. But, for your question, it is the experience of mistaken identity.
