Because they want themselves to feel "pretty'' and have the impossible ideal of beauty. They sacrifice themselves mentally, physically, and spiritually just to get skinny and feel included. Most of them have problems and they figure that if they dont eat that itll change.. but it actually makes it worse. And you cant change annorexia very easily. it takes determination, concentration, and you have to be focused on your main point.
Some - but certainly not all - women in the fashion industry, such as actresses, models, designers, etc., are affected by eating disorders like anorexia because the current social standard is to be thin.
Nearly all people who suffer from anorexia have low or vunerable self-esteem. This can also be related to depression, being shy, isolation, and anxiety in trying to be "better" or to be "perfect".
Millions of men and women around the wolrd suffer from anorexia. Many unfortunately go un-noticed or un-documented, meaning that numbers are probably higher than predicted. As it stands, current estimations are that 1 in every 250 people has some sort of anorexia or anorexic tendencies (above what is considered mentally and physically acceptable or "normal"). Of that, 90% are women and 10% are men.

Anorexia is often cause by low self-esteem. This can happen as a result of teasing from others, rude comments, and depression. Anorexia can also (though some dispute this) be caused by the media. Most models are tall and very thin. Magazines show mostly re-touched "perfect" images of models. Girls often think, through the meida, that "thin is good", because there is a large lack of positive ideas about healthy, normal looking people and weights. Trying to be so thin can easily cause anorexia.
Although anorexia is a dangerous illness that can be life-threatening, there are several pro-anorexia websites on the Internet. Some of these include Houseofthin, Proanamia, or Anafriends.
Professionals believe that the cause of anorexia is broad, and the disease can develop or stem from a number of problems. Most commonly, anorexia is believed to develop from mental problems, like depression, BDD (Body Dismorphic Disorder), and now-self esteem. Anorexia can commonly happen as a reault of a simple, common diet that becomes excessive and too extreme. Some believe that anorexia might have a genetic link to it, as individuals with a mother who was anorexic have been seen to be more likely to develop an eating disorder, too. Some think that social factors, like media, can cause anorexia, but that is highy disputed.
Some of the major causes of extreme eating disorders such an bulimia and also anorexia include low self esteem, bullying and also low confidence levels.
Anorexia is actually not a difference in what somone sees but a feeling of self pitty and lack of worth. An anorexic doesn't see any diffrent than you do. Anorexic people can look like just your ordinary everyday person. They can also be incredibly thin or in some cases may be over weight. there is no actual "type" of image for someone who suffers with anorexia. also, they are not "anorexic" they are people who suffer from "anorexia" known as "anorexia nervosa".
Anorexia was first "discovered" in 1863 by two English doctors. However, this was the first time it was considered to be an actual disease. Records of anorexia date back to the times of ancient Greeks, where reports of self-starvation (anorexia) and throwing up after meals (bulimia) were recorded in monastaries. And priests wrote that Catherine of Sienna dies after starving herslef through eating only berries and fruits and refusing to eat at most meals, both which would be a sign of severe anroexia.
Anorexia can be caused by many different things or factors. Often, it is a compilation of many factors that eventually will manifest themselves or transform into anorexia. Some of those factors are... *Low self esteem *Low self body image *Depression *BDD (Body Dismorphic Disorder) *Yo-Yo dieting *History of other eating disorders *Family / friends with eating disorders *Socail / media influence *OCD *Dieting gone too far *Teasing about weight, appearances
