Why do you bite your lips?

Those last to two questions aren't very good answers.

People will bite their lips for different reasons, and most people think it's to be flirty but that's actually rare when it happens. That's just speculation. I have done research on people biting their lips and why (for a science class) and I asked 50 people why they bite their lips. And only 2 said it's to make boys like them. I asked 25 girls and 25 boys of why they bite their lips. Here are the answers I got.

I'll start with the girls:

1) I bite my lip when I'm nervous of something.

2) I usually bite my lip when I'm scared of something.

3) Whenever I bite my lip it's because I'm anxious or nervous about something. Like tests.

4) I bite my lip to be a little flirty, but usually I do it when I'm nervous. I do it without thinking, it's a reaction I get with certain things.

5)Whenever I'm nervous.

6) From nervouness

7) When I'm nervous.

8) To be flirty.

9) When I'm scared

10) Whenever I tell a lie.

11) When I feel like something isn't quite right.

12) When I feel nervous about something.

13) It's a habit I have when I get nervous/scared

15) Just from being nervous

16) I don't know, I just do it randomly. Especially when I'm scared of something.

17) It calms me down when I'm scared/nervours/anxious/shy.

18) I bite my lip when I get excited about something, it keeps my excitment inside so I don't start jumping up and down.

19) When I'm nervous.

20) Just being nervous.

21) When my ADHD kicks in and I'm trying to listen I bite my lower lip.

22) Whenever my lips are chapped, I bite my lip and pull off skin a lot which gets me sctraches. It's a bad habit I know.

23) I bite my lip whenever I'm scared of something, like my fear of dolls....

24) I bite my lip when I get excited/nervous.

25) It just happens.

Now for the boys (they all gave the same answers in different words so I won't give all 25 I'll just tell you what they all said) and that was when they're nervous and excited.

So the truth is, it's not very often that people bite their lips when they want to be flirty, that's just a sterotype. ;-)

It is believed that most people bite their lips out of being nervous. It is very normal for lip-biting to become a habit.
