Chalk (Calcium carbonate) is insoluble. Copper sulphate is soluble. To separate, first place the mixture in wter. The copper sulphate will dissolve, the chalk will not dissolve. When the copper sulphate is fully dissolved, filter the solution. The copper sulphate component will pass through the filter paper, but the chalk will remain in the filter paper. Dry the filter paper to obtain the dry chalk. Evaporate the solution to dryness, to obtain the blue dry copper sulphate crystals.
Why does the colour of copper sulphate solution change when an iron nail is dipped in it? When an iron nail is placed in a copper sulphate solution, iron displaces copper from copper sulphate solution forming iron sulphate, which is green in colour. Therefore, the blue colour of copper sulphate solution fades and green colour appears.

Copper sulphate is soluble, sulphur is insoluble. Dissolve the mixture in water. The copper sulphate will dissolve, the sulphur will not dissolve. Filter. The blue soluble of copper sulphate will passthrough the filter paper. The sulphur (yellow) will remain in the filter paper.
Copper sulphate's colour is blue.

Copper sulfate solution is clear and blue Water is clear and colorless
Copper Sulphate mixed with hot water makes Copper Sulphate Crystals.
it is copper sulphate solution ( a blue colored liquid)Noor_aj :)
A brown layer of copper gets deposited on iron nail. This change is due to a chemical reaction between copper sulphate and iron. Also the colour of the solution changes from blue to green due to the formation of iron sulphate. This reaction can be represented by the following equation: Copper sulphate + Iron = Iron sulphate + Copper solution (CuSO4) + (Fe) = (FeSO) + (Cu)
The copper plates out while the zinc dissolves, leaving a transparent zinc sulphate solution.
Iron is more reactive than copper and the ferrous (Fe++) ions will replace the copper (Cu++) ions in the sulphate. CuSO4 is blue, FeSO4 is green.
