You don't really have to know much about geography if you don't want to. You must learn what they teach you in school because, even if it will be of no use to you in your life, you should at least know that there are other places and other societies out there in the world. Some of them may have the ability to affect your life even if you're a monk in a monastery or a nun in a convent. Geography can affect your life no matter what you do or where you live. Geography includes which foods are local to you and which have to be shipped from far away; if the place you live is vulnerable to floods, tornadoes, blizzards, or hurricanes; thy type of culture that may come to where you are and why that happens. Geography starts in your neighborhood, your community, your town or city, your state or province, and all the neighbors around them.
