Because facebook is a website where you can chat with friends or family who lives far or near. So when you already have one, you have to login so people know who you really are, other than that, there is really no point of facebook. Don't forget, you can do A LOT of activities on facebook. For Example, playing games and contests.

∙ 11y agoIt's referred to as reciprocal linking. The wiki answers gives links to the Facebook by adding tab for signing up and in turn gets visits from the users Facebook profile page. The Profile from which the page is linked shows an update for wiki answers and in turn is posted to all the profile pages to the users friends and hence getting back links from those pages. Thus one can see the effect of "Reciprocal Linking" in this manner.

How can someone become an Answer person without joining Facebook?
Linking your Answers account to your Facebook page is completely optional. When you sign-up, you are given two options. While you can choose to "sign up with Facebook" and use that information to access the site, this is not necessary. Rather you can create a username and password for the site, and use these to log-in when you return to the site. Facebook is simply linked to the site in order to make logging in easier, if you choose to use it.

At this moment in time - you need a Facebook account to sign up with Answers. When I joined Answers (in 2010) you didn't need a Facebook account - now - you do. From a personalpoint of view, I think it's a bad idea forcing people onto Facebook just to use this site - as some people (me included !) have no desire to put their personal information onto an (obviously) insecure website !I hope Answers reverses their decision to force people onto Facebook - it serves no purpose !
