You don't, and in many countries, you would be unable to. Some children have to work to support their families. Others have to successfully pass periodic tests in order to be able to continue in school.

In the U.S., the people decided to provide free education to everyone. This was an effort to provide a common experience and opportunity to everyone. Therefore, it is a choice to obtain what you need from school rather than just resentfully warm the seat. If you cannot manage that, speak to your parents about obtaining a GED and going to work, instead. Education is a privilege and we all too often forget that.
