There IS a small amount of caffiene in Hot Chocolate, but not enough to keep you awake. There is about 5 mg of caffeine in one cup, versus 150 mg in regular coffee. However, several cups contain enough sugar to give you a sugar buzz.

The answer is simple: caffeine. The amount of caffeine in cocoa is not significant in comparison to, let's say, coffee, but it's still there. And, it will only pile up after several cups. The solution: limit the amount of cocoa you drink before sleep or look for a caffeine-free cocoa. You should be fine. ☺
