A person might be taking an iron supplement if they are not getting enough iron in their normal diet, for example a vegetarian. The other reason could be that the body isn't quite good enough at recycling anyway; naturally, some iron will get lost and will have to be replaced.
you need iron for your blood and your thyroid.
An older female. usually kids, young adults and pregnant women do need Iron
yes, because you need iron in your body but too much is also not good
Iron is a mineral and functions primarily as a carrier of oxygen in the body.
Low iron levels, and under doctor's supervision. While nursing I limit to taking nothing, unless absolutely needed. Foods can be a great source of everything you need. If you need more iron I would suggest increasing your foods high in iron.
through the food we eat or through supplement pills
The nail is made from iron and we need iron to keep us healthy x
Iron is what binds to the oxygen in red blood cells (the hemoglobin and myoglobin): low iron (anemia) means that a large portion of red blood cells are unable to bind then carry the oxygen to other tissues in the body - they start to starve for oxygen. Too much Iron also is a problem but it rarely happens unless a person takes too much in a supplement (iron poisoning) or has a birth defect called hemochromatosis (dystopic blood-color: too much red )
Iron is an important component for the parts of our blood that transports oxygen.
When you don't get enough iron in your body you may get anemia, excessive menstrual bleeding, learning dissabilities, impaired immune functions, low body temperature, light headedness, dizzy spells, fatigue, weak and/or tiredness. You may also go pale in the face and need to rest more in excersise. This is because Iron is required for energy, healthy brain development and endurance because it delivers oxygen throughout the body. When you are low in iron your brain and organs are being starved of oxygen. Talk to your doctor about what's happening and they may be able to help with an iron supplement or change your diet to a more iron enriched one.
Blood cells need iron as well as many other minerals such as sulfur, copper, zinc... Etc...
A deficiency of iron can cause the body's production of red blood cells to decrease. Without enough red blood cells, less oxygen gets to where it is needed, resulting in fatigue and shortness of breath.
