Why do you never see an airplane's shadow?

If you're standing on the ground, then the plane's shadow is too small,
and it moves too fast.

Hint: The shadow is on you only when you see the plane fly across the sun.

It's much easier to see the shadow when you're in the plane.

Low flying airplanes cast a shadow, While flying at lower altitudes I can see the shadow on the ground. The reason you probably don't see it is because the plane would have to pass directly between you and the sun. Also, the reason you don't see shadows from large commercial jets at altitude is that light scatters and at that distance (5+ miles) there will not be a clearly defined shadow on the ground.

That's because planes travel so high. Light can cover the shadow.
