Companies expect you to pay for their products because they put a lot of work into developing them. The people at BlueFX need to earn enough to stay in business, pay themselves a salary, and continue to create special effects. They give you a free trial so you can see if you like their product. If you do you pay for it and get the full version; if you don't you can delete it and you have not wasted your money.

No, the WoW free trial only includes the original game. There are no expansions in the free trial. Also while playing a free trial account you are not able to receive mail, whisper other players (unless they have you as one of their friends), or talk in channels (i.e. Trade, General)
The amount of stock footage that you need will determine the cost that you will have to pay once the free trial runs out. The best thing to do is to check with the people you have the free trial with to see what kind of deal you can get for the footage.
