Another headache disorder called Hemicrania Continua can also cause one sided head pain to last for long periods of time. Other headache types may also cause one sided head pain. Migraine is typically felt on one side of the head during an attack. It may switch sides during an attack, and sometimes a double sided Migraine can occur. Another type of headache that only affects one side of the head (rarely if ever switching sides) is called Hemicrania Continua. This is not Migraine however, and is treated uniquely and differently from Migraine. If you do not yet have a diagnosis, have new headache or your headache pattern has changed, please see your physician or a headache specialist for appropriate diagnosis and treatment.

Can inflamed sinus cause terrible migraines?

Although they are not symptoms used to characterize migraines, many people with sinus-related symptoms are having migraines. Migraines are generally charactierized by intense throbbing pain that is usually on one side of the head, although for some people both side are affected. They also usually last from 4-72 hours. The nerves in the head and face that are affected can be ones that are connected with the sinus regions (the face underneath the eye, the forehead). Some people do get other sinus-related symptoms during their migraines, such as congestion and puffy, watery eyes. It is possible that the migraine is causing those symptoms, or that you are reacting to something in the environment that is then triggering a migraine (allergens, weather changes, food).

Where on the head is a caffeine withdrawal headache felt?

It depends. In some people, caffeine withdrawal will bring on a tension headache. Tension headaches are felt across the head, in the forehead, temples, or in the back of the head. Tension headaches usually occur as a type of pressure, a constant ache, a dull throb. However, caffeine withdrawal can trigger a migraine in some people. Migraines are usually uni-lateral, meaning that they occur on one side of the head. Some people can experience migraines on both sides. Migraines are generaly felt as as a sharp, throbbing pain, usually in the temple or behind the eye.

Are headaches on one side of the head rare in pregnant women?

A headache on one side of the head, especially in women, is most likely a migraine. It is normal for some women to have more migraines during pregnancy while others have less; this does not indicate any serious problem. Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19289228
