The term 'pricking seedlings' refers to the removal of a single seedling (or a small group of them) from a large group growing pot. Gardeners may start seeds by sowing a great number in a single flat of dirt in the greenhouse (usually over winter) but the small flat won't have enough room for the seeds to grow into plants. To solve this problem, the gardener 'pricks out' a seedling at a time and transfers it into its own pot to continue growing. This method allows gardeners to germinate a large number of seeds in a small space and also ensures that only well growing seedlings are moved into larger pots.

The purpose of pricking seeds is so that you can allow the seed to get water easily. Doing this, you plant will grow fast, because it can get water easily.
