Because nightmares stick in your head more, even though you are not technically conscious, and they make more of an impact on your brain. Its like seeing a list of words and trying to memorise them - if there are a few rude, scary or funny words in that list you will remember them better than if the word 'Answer' or 'The' or 'centre' were written down. Its all about your brain and if your nightmare is particularly scary, you might not be able to get it out of your brain.

Why do we have nightmaires?

The reason why ADULTS have nightmares/bad dreams is caused by medications/and or illnesses, stress/and or anxiety, stressful/and or frightening events that have happened in your life. But, children experience more nightmares than adults can ever. Do not be afraid of these nightmares/dreams, they are not real, but they sometimes can mean something.

Does it mean anything to have weird dreams?

It might mean that you are not sleeping soundly, and might need to avoid caffeine in the afternoons and evenings. Or you might be having weird dreams as a side effect of some medication. When you sleep soundly, you remember fewer dreams, but when you sleep poorly, you remember more dreams and they seem more weird than usual.

How many nightmares do you have a night?

One can dream more than one dream in a night, yet at the same time, sometimes you don't have any dreams at all. Especially if you wake up at night, then go back to sleep. In my case, I normally have two or three, and sometimes, maybe four dreams per night. Hope this answered your question!

Can your nightmares be a glimpse of the future?

Some nightmares could be a glimpse of the future because there is such thing as a dream come true but this happens rarely, nightmares are mostly not a glimpse of the future but it is normally what we want to believe.Nightmares and other dreams can glimpse the future in the same way that a weather report will forecast future weather conditions. In real life, the conscious mind naturally filters information perceived through the senses. Much of this is the mind's normal limitation, but some is due to denial and wishful thinking. But the subconscious mind can pick up much more information and recognize trends and patterns that are missed by the conscious mind. This information can lead to obvious conclusions which sometimes appear in dreams or nightmares as visions of the future. Such dreams can be alarmingly accurate, but there is nothing supernatural or magic involved. Not necessarily, if you see your dreams begin to start coming true you could be a psychic.More information:In the vast majority of cases, the answer is no, dreams do not predict the future. Dreams arise from the subconscious mind and although they sometimes seem to present amazing information, the fact is that they draw from our own memories, emotions and intuition, not from any supernatural sources. Many times what seem to be prophetic dreams are nothing more than subtle impressions that the subconscious mind combines with intuition. These dreams might "forecast" the future in exactly the same way the weather report will "forecast" next week's storm, by following the evidence to its obvious conclusion.

How come some people can remember their dreams very vividly almost every night and some people can't remember their dreams at all?

The reason for that is the state of mind the dreamer is in. The best state to dream is to be calm and happy, rather than angry, thus, when being in a better state of mind, your sould is able to grab more material of dreams from the parent world, making a dream more vivid

How can people remember their dream?

An effective means of remembering dreams is a Dream Journal. This is nothing more than a notebook kept beside one's bed, where any dreams are recorded immediately upon awakening. Disciplining one's self to write down the description of the dream immediately, before visiting the bathroom or taking a shower, is critical, as the memory of dreams naturally fades away within moments. Once the habit is established, it usually becomes more easy to remember one's dreams.
