This is something of a historical perspective that simply hasn't been changed over the last hundred years or so. Inorganic chemistry covers the basics of atomic interactions, reactions, the formation of molecules and how those molecules interact with each other. Organic chemistry is typically taught separately from this, and usually after a student has mastered inorganic chemistry, because the properties of organic molecules differ greatly from those of inorganic molecules. The same principles still apply, but there are many more factors to consider and ways in which organic molecules can act.

Organic ChemistryThe branch of chemistry in which we study the compounds of carbon.Inorganic ChemistryThe study of all elements and their compounds, except compounds of carbon is called inorganic chemistry.

The study of chemicals containing carbon is traditionally contain what type of chemistry?

Inorganic chemistry. (A few compounds that DO contain carbon are part of inorganic chemistry too.)

Differentiate inorganic from organic compounds?

Basically, all organic compounds have carbon and organic chemistry is the study of carbon based comounds. Inorganic generally do not contain carbon (with exceptions being carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, metal carbonates, metal bicarbonates and metal carbides).

Are living things inorganic or organic?

Living things are considered organic because they are composed of organic compounds, such as carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. These compounds contain carbon and are essential for the structure and function of living organisms. Organic chemistry is the study of these carbon-containing compounds in living systems.

Why is carbon classified into organic and inorganic?

So that it is easy to study the different compounds of carbon

What is organic science and inorganic science?

Organic science pertains to the study of living organisms and their processes, while inorganic science deals with non-living matter and systems. Organic science includes biology, ecology, and biochemistry, while inorganic science includes chemistry, physics, and geology.

Physical chemistry Biochemistry Analytical chemistry Inorganic chemistry The study of all the substances not included in organic chemistry is called?

The study of all substances not included in organic chemistry is called inorganic chemistry. It focuses on the properties and behavior of inorganic compounds, which typically do not contain carbon-hydrogen bonds found in organic molecules. Inorganic chemistry deals with materials such as metals, minerals, and non-carbon-containing compounds like salts and coordination complexes.

How many traditional areas of study can chemistry be divided into?

Chemistry can be divided into five traditional areas of study: organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, and biochemistry. These subdisciplines focus on different aspects of chemistry and allow for a more specialized study of the field.

Inorganic chemistry is the study of?

It is chemistry concerned with the properties and behavior of inorganic compounds. This field covers all chemical compounds except the myriad organic compounds (compounds containing C-H bonds), which are the subjects of organic chemistry.
