Elements from the boron, carbon, pnictogen, chalcogen and halogen families (groups 13 to 17) react with metals.

What is formed when halogen and alkali metals react?

What elements react the best with the alkali metals?

Non metals form ionic bonds with metals. Non metals gain the electrons while metals loose. Alkali metals reacts with halogen family in efficient manner.

Is the following sentence true or false All elements easily form compounds with other elements?

False. Many elements easily react, such as those in the Alkali Metals and Alkaline Earth Metals, VI, and halogen groups. Other elements react only under the right conditions, such as the transition metals. Some elements, such as the noble gases, do not react or react only under very stringent conditions.

Does a halogen element easily react with alkali metals elements?

Yes. the reaction is exothermic and quite violent.

How do alkali metals react with other alkali metals?

They don't

What does fluorine combine with?

Fluorine is a halogen, so it reacts with Hydrogen, all of the Alkali Metals and all of the Alkali Earth Metals. There undoubtedly other reactions which I'm not aware of, so please feel free to add to this list if you know of any. There are few substances that Fluorine will not react with. It can react with any substance with which oxygen can react and even a few more such as glass.

Which metals does not react with water?

Most metals do not react with water, especially at room temperature. It is easier to state which metals DO react with water. Those would be Li, K, Sr, Ca and Na. Those reacting with hot water (steam) would be Mg, Al, Zn and Cu. Most other metals do NOT react with water.
