Knossos (pronounced kuh-nuh-SOS) is believed to have been attacked by the Mycenaeans in the early 15th Century B.C., resulting in destruction of much of the city. Historians assume the Mycenaeans removed the leaders of Knossos from the palace in 1450 B.C. What remained of Knossos following its loss in war to the Mycenaean Greeks is believed to have been destroyed by fire 100 years later.
There is also legend that the city was destroyed by tsunami.
