Well, for one thing, he's supposed to always be watching and judging you. That's pretty creepy, in and of itself. But he's also a guy who sneaks into your house at night when you're asleep. Being intruded upon in the middle of the night, especially for a kid, is a very scary prospect.

When I was a kid (and even today), I always found it very, very scary when, in the Nutcracker, Marie gets out of bed at night and is wandering around the house, when she suddenly notices her Uncle or great-uncle or whoever -- the one who gave her the Nutcracker -- perched upon the grandfather clock, just sitting there looking down at her. There's something about the idea of a mysterious stranger creeping around your house at night that's really terrifying, even if the stranger isn't supposed to be dangerous or scary.

Kids believe in Santa Claus because they are told of him from an early age. It is much like kids believing in the tooth fairy or Easter Bunny. These things are all done in good fun and to add to the festivness of the holidays that they represent. However, the real story of Christmas should be taught as well. Often kids put Santa higher on their lists than Jesus. Kids generally tend to believe what their parents say is true.

There are always risks and dangerous angles in mixing reality and fantasy, perhaps there would be less of a problem if Christmas were a secular holiday- akin to Valnetine"s day, July 4th etc, but it is not. by its very nature Clausism attacks and minimizes the spiritual aspects of the holiday- and there are some very distorted parodies such as the (Kneeling Santa) which attempts to use a time warp to get Santa Claus at the Manger setting- which would require a minimum of a 400 year time warp-= akin to getting James Bond ( a fictional character) back to Elizabethan times- which might make a good movie!) Santa Claus is physically impossible and also with the idea of draft animals- might even promote slavery. Ir is better in my opinion if at best, Santa is seen as a purely symbolic character akin to Cupid. I never belived in Santa Claus- I knew how powerful a Y-6B locomotive was- which is rated at 7000 Hp and could pull l00 car trains of freight, surely 8 horsepower could not deliver the goods of the world! Sorry science bagged Santa, even without considering the gravity angle.

There are a few reasons why children would be afraid of Santa. The first reason is that this Santa Clause just silently creeps into the kids' house, even if the doors are locked. The second most common reason is that he knows when a kid has been good, bad, or is awake or not, which doesn't keep the children at ease, making them more afraid of him than embracing of him.

What is the importance of believing in Santa Claus today?

AnswerFor young children, believing in Santa Claus is part of the magic of Christmas. Francis Pharcellus Church, in an 1897 editorial, wrote "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy." It is, of course, implausible for older people to believe in Santa Claus.

Should young children believe in Santa Claus please give examples why?

Yes, but without the fantastical aspect of Santa Claus. Santa is actually St Nicholas who was a real saint that was known to love children and give them gifts. However, the story has gotten twisted into a fantasy story. St. nicholas is very real and should be prayed to by children, especially around Christmas.
