Maybe your throttle positioning sensor is bad.

A car may idle up and down due to "Improper fuel mixture". (The fuel in the car may consist of an un-even balance of air or gas). However, there are a few other ways a car can idle up and down.
Car windows go up and down on a track. It has fallen off of the track.
There are several reasons why your car may be overheating. Check the thermostat to be sure it isn't stuck. If the car revs up and down, the timing may need to be adjusted.
Down for left turns, up for right turns.

Somebody pushing the car; friction slowing down the car; gravity acting on the car (this is especially relevant if the car is going up or down a slope); the engine pushing the car forwards.

If indicatoris right of the steering wheel then up, otherwise if it's on the left, down.

Assuming you are not pressing down on the gas, when you release the pedal, the car will slow down over time and evetualy come to a stop. Unless you are going down a hill, in which case you will speed up.
