When this happens, both parties are very calm around each other to the point where they don't feel the need to react negatively, and are comfortable enough to sleep with each other, or the cats sleep on top of the dogs.
Cats won't go near a dog if they don't trust them or suspects that the dog will not be nice to them. Dogs won't go near cats if they don't trust them. But if either parties are not like this, then they have nothing to worry about.
