Hey I have this same problem, and I am not exactly sure why it's around in some people where they won't follow u back but u would follow them. I really think that it may be these reasons:1 u don't post like very often like after 8 weeks, 2 they are just not interested in ur posts, 3 they might follow certain people, 4 ur not like the people they follow, or last but not least 5 they just want to have more attention and popularity by following less people

Ok I find it pretty confusing and honestly sad that happens to people on Instagram. Now I also know that Instagram is not even a big deal and it doesn't matter whatsoever to some peoples opinions, but the fact that they are ur friends and they don't follow back and they only follow people who have good posts or something just makes it a whole different story. People or friends should I say don't always look into popularity they just think as a friend its a normal concept to follow back. It shows if their really there for popularity or to be in contact with friends. Instagram is not exactly just for the contact of friends but it has users about funny videos or about nail art or just on a type of category, people follow those users for interest. I would do that too but I would only find pleasure if I was equal with everyone and follow back as a friend, it shows I care about others and I look into friendship. I know it looks so good to have 300 follows and like follow 80 back but in some peoples mind they might look at it cheap. I think Instagram is just a big roller coaster ride with many causes and effects. Sometimes people but in their bio saying if u follow me I follow back which is something people know that attracts people for more followers, and that user itself is gaining followers that's kind of a "famous" tip that goes around Instagram. If u think about it u would find lots and lots of answers it's all common sense. But ur not always gonna get answers because we don't have that ability to know everything :)
