You have had a loss of power to the radio (such as when the car battery is changed), or the radio has been replaced or disconnected from the car's wiring harness. This is a theft deterrent because the stolen radio is useless to someone without the activation code. This code can be obtained from a dealer or it is found on a small plastic card that is part of the original owner's materials. Number is usually 5 digits. When you turn on the radio and the readout says 'CODE', enter the number by using the numbered station selection buttons (which are numbered 1-2-3-4-5-6). If the radio beeps when you are entering the number, start over. If it keeps beeping, you have the wrong code number (which might be the case if the radio has been replaced). Note: The 'CODE' button located on the small computer face to the right of the radio (with the date, mileage, temperature, etc) has NOTHING to do with the process or the radio 'CODE'.
The radio has a built in security feature. When power is lost to the radio, it requires you to insert a code to restore the radio to an operational condition. The code came with the car. Look in the glove box, console, and in the owners manual for the code. Do not attempt to guess at the code or you will lock the radio up.
He must have used the wrong code. You have to pull the stero get the serial # and cross it with the dealer to get the actual code for that radio. Then start over.
having a BMW myself, i would quite frankly say- anytime soon! they break down all of the time! my conclusion- not worth the $.
Leave the key in the "on" position for about an hour.
Depending on the make and model of the radio you input the code using 1-4 buttons then enter it by pressing 5 I will include a YouTube video tutorial about ford code entry instructions (see related links)and other tips with more details about how to calculate your ford radio code absolutely for free.
When you hook the battery back up and turn on the radio, it will read code. Turn on the radio. If the display on the radio says "code", then enter the code using the preset buttons. If it doesn't say "code", try pressing the Mode button until 'code' appears. If you can't get 'code' to appear by pushing buttons, you might have to call your local Honda dealer. If you do not have the code, then you will need the serial # off the radio in order for a Honda dealer to supply the code, unless the original selling dealer has a record of the proper code stored. The car came with 2 little cards with the code listed on them.
The code is 4 digit long, each radio has its own code, to set code: Say the code is 2418 using the station preset numbers press #1 x2 press #2 x4 press #3 x1 press #4 x8 the number should be on the LCD then press #5 once. If you incorrectly enter the code 3 times the radio will shut off and you will have to wait an hour before you can try again.
Lets say the radio code is 5317 you will enter it this way using the 6 presets from the radio 1 press 5 times 2 press 3 times 3 press 1 time 4 press 7 times now press the am fm button and radio will turn on some Honda radios have a 5 digit code good luck
Remove both battery cables. Then, put them back on. It should then say CODE instead of OFF. I found my CODE in the glove box on the right side of the glove box was a sticker. The code starts with RC (stands for radio code) After the RC is a 4 digit number. My was RC8505. If you don't find yours there look around for any stickers on the car, it it there somewhere. knawledge2007
