Why does Avon allow gay men to their products?

The question, 'Why does Avon allow gay men to sell Avon' makes no sense, nor does the suggestion it could be very unhealthy for people in the community not to be forewarned the person selling Avon might be gay. Why would Avon consumers, or those considering buying Avon products, be any healthier for knowing the sexual preference of men selling Avon?

No doubt Avon allows gay women to sell their products, as well as heterosexual men and women; there's probably some asexual people involved, too.

Are you afraid that people who aren't gay might somehow unwittingly catch gayness from gay folk selling a product? 'Hey, I'm starting to think I'm gay!' 'Wow! Have you bought Avon lately?' 'You don't mean their new Manly Musk aftershave? I heard that turned you gay, but I thought it couldn't happen to me…' 'Well, my girlfriend tried the Dainty Damsel perfume, and she's gone right off me!' It just doesn't work like that, neither products nor salespeople will affect your health or sexual orientation in this way; if you believe this to be the case, you've been misinformed and should review your source of information.

Rather than fretting about the sexual orientation of Avon operatives it might instead be worthwhile checking whether Avon and any other organization selling to the public have strict guidelines requiring people who prefer a particular make of car to advise consumers of their preferences in that direction. That wouldn't make any sense either, but it'd give people with nothing better to think about something to do.

We could practically solve the unemployment problem worldwide, sending teams of researchers out from every corporation to discover the preferred motor vehicle of all those working for that corporation, whether they always drove that kind, or started out with another sort and switched, what color they like, and so on…

I wish I'd thought of that.
