Why does Cain kill his brother abel?

Cain lost his temper, and became jealous and angry because he had not bothered to follow the requirements for offerings, and that is why the Lord was displeased. Cain harbored his anger and let it get out of control and did not heed the Lord's pointing out to him that it wasn't a great idea to feel that way. Because he did not accept this, anger led to murder which is a behavior pattern we still see today. Genesis 5 verse 2-12 relates the story.
