Why does Daft Punk where a futuristic helmet?

Daft Punk always tried to keep their image hidden as much as possible, releasing only a handful of pictures that they selected. Unfortunately, Daft Punk have now reached a stage where they care more about their image than their music. Since the release of Homework in 1996, their albums have become worse and worse over time, but their costumes, helmets and live shows have become more extravagant and impressive.

This phenomenon happens to many artists, who have become so large that they know their fans will always buy their music, no matter how good or bad it is. Their main focus then becomes looking, acting or appearing to be as cool as possible to their fans. DP also know that many people will latch on to what others think is cool also. This is why they were involved in promotions that were cool at the time, such as Gap Clothing, Adidas Star Wars range and Tron.
