The reason is that the illustrators in book 1 to 14 have not improve their drawings. In book 1 'Lost Treasure Of The Emerald Eye', the drawing can be a little ugly. But, as the book number is increasings, the drawing is getting better and of course, Geronimo Stilton is new. Better than the old ugly Geronimo Stilton. As you can realised that in the first page and on the last page (not on the cover page) , Geronimo Stilton is more ugly than the one you see on the cover page.
Very Strange Thing about Geronimo Stilton-Why does Geronimo Stilton is not the same. I suppose think that it could not be so fast to become handsome, as it is we handsome become ugly.
