Block is the same, manifolds, fuel system, and wiring are all different.
The block and head will work. The manifolds, wiring, fuel injection, are different.
Block and heads are the same, manifolds may be different.
check your throttle linkage. it may be stuck open and make your adjustments from there. this is located at the top of your motor attached to the carburators.
It will bolt up, but the manifolds, flywheel, wiring are different. Also the 1997 head does not have a hole in the rear for the temperature gauge sensor.
Not sure about the injection but the 97 TJs had manifold cracking issues.
This answer is for the Inline 6 243 motor. Under the manifolds mounted right to the side of the block.
The manifold is located in different places depending on the make and model of the vehicle. It is also important to note the difference between the intake and exhaust manifolds.
Intakes can be plastic, aluminium, or iron (steel). Exhaust manifolds are always steel or cast iron.
Jeep is the make. It is also part of Chrysler LLC.
The 4.0 motor didn't change much over the years. As long as you put a motor in that is the same year or newer than the vehicle it's going into, you should be fine. the blocks are all the same the diff. is in the intake, exhaust, manifolds. 2000 and 2001 models cant be swaped due to the have no distributers
Jeep is a make in its own right. It is produced by the Chrysler corporation .
