I could not MPT to recognize my RAZR V3xx no matter what I tried :( On a whim I decided to change the USB cable (after uninstalling MPT and drivers).
When I used the new cable, Vista saw the new device for the first time and installed the drivers.
To be sure I reinstalled the latest 32 bit driver from Motodev (http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers) from the page (Handset_USB_Driver_32_v3.7.0.msi) after signing up.
I then reinstalled MPT and it saw the phone.
It just may have been the USB cable but I am up and running on vista (I do so miss XP)
