Sonic tries to stop shadow from doing things that shadow feels needs to be done, also they are 2 way different personalities. shadow is determined, hardcore, silent and forceful. sonic is more layed back and easygoing and would rather mess around. shadow feels that he should stop at nothing to get the job done, but sonic thinks there is bounaries on how far to go. therefore when shadow goes beyond those boundaries sonic tries to stop him. another reason is in shadow's eyes, sonic is a "fake" and he is the best. so there is some friction between the 2, but all shadow wants is justice, he just has different ways to get it. but when sonic needs help when trying to serve justice, shadow is willing to help.
