mine did the same thing then the head gasket failed completely mine was because the previous owner didn't take care of the cooling system and it plugged the head and blew out the fire ring then eroded the fire deck, good luck finding a cheep good head, by the time you find one and spend money on machining you mite as well bought a re-man from auto zone.
Check engine lights will not turn off in a vehicle until they are reset. To reset the light on a 1994 Toyota Tercel pull the ECU fuse.
The cam chain will last the life of the engine and need not be replaced until the engine is overhauled.
follow the lower radiator hose until you get to where it connects to the thermostat housing practically on the engine. There will be a few wire connectors and three-four nuts holding it on.
Often a knock when cold is caused by piston slap, which is pistons rocking in the cylinders until they expand in size when the engine warms up.
The Toyota 4x4 trucks all came with the 4-cylinder engine, 2.2-litre, until 1986, when the 3.0-litre v-6 was introduced. The 4-banger (model # 22-R) was, and still is, a very reliable engine.
The three most common reasons why you might get "engine knock" could be: 1) You need a higher octane gasoline for your older engine. 2) Your carburetor might be running a little too lean. 3) You might be experiencing pre-ignition in your cylinders (which can be caused by a variety of reasons). Any one of these existing conditions could possibly not show up the symptoms until the engine gets up to operating temperature.
To reset the oil change light on a Toyota Highlander 2012, switch the engine to the OFF position. Then switch the engine back on while pressing the trip meter reset button until it displays 000000 or says COMPLETE.
This must be a trick question because they didn't start making T100's until 1993.
They are both internal combustion engines, which are powered by the controlled explosion of fuel within combustion chambers under high pressure from the engine cylinders. The DIFFERENCE is that in a petroleum engine, this process is created by mixing fuel with air in the carburettor and the explosion is created by an electrical spark from the sparking plugs. In a diesel engine, fuel is introduced directly to the cylinders via injectors without first being mixed with air, and is ignited by sheer piston pressur alone, which compresses the fuel until it reaches flashpoint.
Flooding an engine simply means that there is TOO much gas in your cylinders, and you have to wait until they drain before you press the gas, or start the vehicle. The more you try to turn the vehicle over, the more gas will be injected. So let the vehicle sit and wait or press the accelerator to the floor to increase the air in the mixture and leave it there until the engine starts.
The 1995 4Runner was the last model to be released from that series. The engine from 1990 until 1995 can all be swapped relatively easily.
The Toyota Corolla KE70 was the fourth generation of Corolla's released under Toyota. They were produced from August 1979 until June 1987. The last three years saw only production of the van and station wagon versions of the car.
