With the exception of Windows 7 OS, every Windows license has Windows Movie Maker bundled with it. In other words, if you have Vista or Xp, you have Windows Movie Maker.

To find the program on your computer:

> Click the Start (orb)

> In the Start Search box, type: MOVIEMK.exe

Depending on what Windows OS you have, you should see the Movie Maker program appear in the list generated from the search. If you see the program (icon) click (or double-click) on it to open it.

If the Movie Maker program did not appear in the list following the Search, try this:

> Click on Start (orb), Computer, Local Disk (C:), Program Files

> Locate the Windows Movie Maker folder and open it

> Click (or double-click) on the Application

If you can't see the Windows Movie Maker folder, then you don't have it, and you'll need to download it. The URLs posted below provide Windows Movie Maker downloads. Choose the download compatible with your OS (operating system).

Note: Do not attempt to download Vista version on Xp or vice-versa because this will not work. You must download the version compatible with your system.

If you have a Windows operating system, then you have Windows Movie Maker.

However, if you have Windows 7... YOU DO NOT HAVE IT. Nor do you have Windows Photo Gallery or Windows Mail with the Windows 7 OS.

In any case, you can either download Windows Live Movie Maker (limited in features) or Windows Movie Maker v2.6. Both downloads are available free online. Simply Google the version you are looking for.

Microsoft designed Windows 7 for easier use. In doing so, they either eliminated or 'striped-down' applications included in earlier versions of their operating systems.

Windows 7 incorporates Windows Live Essentials products: Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Photo Gallery and Windows Live Movie Maker. You can download any of these programs from the link I've provided for you in the Related links section below.

This does not mean you can't download the Windows Movie Maker v2.6 version for Vista though. You can have both versions if you wish (like I do) since they are both 'stand-alone' applications. I've also added a link for the full Windows Movie Maker for Vista download in the Related links section as well.
