Every god wanted to have a patron city. Hera ( goddess of marriage, peacocks and wife of Zeus ) and Poseidon ( god of the seas and earthquakes ) fought over Argos and Hera won. Poseidon was mad and so he caused a flood in Argos. Hera complained and told Poseidon to take the water away. Poseidon was like - "Okay, I'll take the water away. I'll take all of it away" And so Argos became a desert.
