Check your alternator its probably weak or going bad I would also check the voltage regulator. This has happened to my 1981 F100.
Check the connections to the solenoid and to the starter.
it may not be grounded. correctly. did you check it before you put it on? check with volt meter see if it is getting power. also it maybe that the rod to the wipers are jammed check them out.

It has a separate fuse .I bet you have a trailer connection. The correct fuse is noted in the owners manual.
