There is a reason, it just remains to be discovered. General causes are: plugged fuel filter, bad ignition coil, weak fuel pump, clogged fuel injectors, or, carburetor problems if not fuel injected. Could also be clogged air filters, PCV valve sticking, EGR valve sticking, or possibly a loose or corroded electrical connection.
