Since most brake/turn use the same filament in the bulb(1157) then if the turn signal switch is bad or offset then it will effect the brake lights.

Brake lights do not work all the time replaced brake light switch?

If you have the same bulb for brake and signal, brake light power needs to be interrupted by the signal lights, The brake circuit has to go through the signal light switch so the problem could be there.

98 Tahoe no brake lights changed the brake switch still no brake lights and now the hazered lights not working at a lost on what to do?

If the fuses and bulbs are okay I would blame the signal switch assembly. They call it a multi-function switch these days.

What causes the tail lights not to work on a 1995 Chevy Tahoe when the turn signal and brake lights do work?

either dimmer switch or blown fuse If you are saying that the tail brake lights are working but the third brake light is not....It may be a defective turn signal switch in the steering column.

Why do your tail lights work but not your stop lights?

The turn signal switch is bad. Happened to me on a 99 Lumina. Got to pull steering wheel, etc. to replace switch. The brake light circuit goes through turn signal switch. The third (high mounted brake lite) brake lite uses switch on brake pedal

Why brake lights wouldn't go off?

# Bad brake light switch (on top of the brake pedal under the dash), or; # A shorted turn signal switch.

The brake light switch on a Nissan is located just behind the brake pedal. It sends a signal to the brake lights when the pedal is pressed to turn them on.

How do you fix the brake lights on a 1966 mustang?

How the brake lights work on a 66 Mustang is very simple. Power goes from the headlight switch to the brake light switch, then through the turn signal switch and back to the brake lights. There is no fuse in that system. There is a self resetting circuit breaker in the headlight switch, but, if that was tripped, none of the lights on the car would work. The first thing to check is the brake light switch itself by bypassing it. Unplug the connector from the switch and run a jumper from from one slot in the connector to the other. If the brake lights come on, replace the brake light switch. If they don't, the problem is either a wire has lost continuity or there is a problem in the turn signal switch.

Why do my brake brake lights only work when i press the wires on turn signal arm 1998 lumina?

Where is brake light switch on 92 Lumina Z34?

Above the brake pedal. If your main brake lights dont work but your third center brake light does, then the brake light switch is not the problem. Its is the turn signal switch.
