An air conditioner blows out heat
Because the air handler and ductwork are full of warm air from not running and cooling is not instantaneous upon start up. It takes 2 or 3 minutes of run time for the unit to begin cooling.
If you have a Heat pump, you must set the thermostat up for "heat pump". Then you must connect all the wires up according to the manual. If you do not have a heat pump, the wiring may be crossed or touching somewhere. Call a local heating and air conditioning company to trace out the problem.
To my understanding, on end of the freezer blows air, quite rapidly, towards the other end which acts like a "vacuum". This is called an "air curtain" and acts just as a door would, keeping cold in and heat out.

What type of system do you have? Heat pump? With or without supplemental electric strip heat? Warm air furnace? Need to know in order to help.
