In nature, dogs and cats are competing carnivores. They can prey upon the same species, such as rabbits. So, they don't want each other to be in the same territory.
You make sure the dog doesn't see a cat and if it does you keep them away from each other.
A cat hissing when it sees a dog is an example of defensive behavior. This vocalization serves as a warning to the dog, indicating that the cat feels threatened and is prepared to defend itself. Hissing is a way for the cat to communicate its discomfort and establish boundaries.
Messages travel from the dog's eyes to their brain.

By nature, cats and canines are natural enemies. Big cats often kill canines, and the leopard especially loves to see them as food. The real conflict is over competition for food. Both groups are predators, and eliminating the competition is nature's way to ensure survival. So, your dog is reacting to an age old instinct, that's all. Usually, dogs and cats can get along well if raised together.
Probably because it sees something like a cat or a chipmunk it can chase. But I don't know. I'm just guessing

They are a beautiful breed :) Whether they are cat friendly really depends on the dog and how its treated. And what experiences they've had with cats. If a dog has been attacked by a cat then mabye they think that cats arent so friendly therefore they might have a grudge against cats. But if the interaction between the dog and the cat is good and no cat scratching then the dog might become cat friendly. Its early puppy stages are important and socializing with cats within the first 6 months is essencial if the dog is living in a cat zone :)
After experiencing a dog attack, a cat's behavior may change to become more fearful, anxious, and aggressive. They may also become more cautious and avoid interactions with other animals, including dogs.
