Pregnant women are supplied with extra Iron during the pregnancy. There are two reasons for the same. One is there in increased blood volume during pregnancy. So you need more Iron to produce more red blood cells. Secondly the fetus needs it's own supply of Iron to meet the need for blood formation. Fetus also stores the supply of Iron in it's body. There is less amount of Iron in the breast milk than needed. For these two reasons the pregnant women are routinely supplied with Iron supplement. The normal need of elemental Iron is only 3 mg per day. Pregnant women need to take 5 mg of elemental Iron per day. You are requested to use Iron utensils to cook your food. It will give enough of Iron that you need per day. You may not need to take that extra Iron in that case probably. Pharma industry and doctors together sell the Iron at 7.5 to 10 million rupees per Kg to patients. ( Injection Iron oxide with elemental Iron 100 mg costs Rs 350/ampule. IV fluid per bottle costs about Rs 400 to 700/ bottle.) That is a big business. You live in a society. You can not live with out the society and the only job every member of the society does is to rob other members of the society. You forget that you can have anything like win win situation.
