The Rhino not only needs water to drink as most all living creatures do. But they also use water as a major part of their habitat. They need to wallow in muddy areas often, and usually do so during the heat of the day. During droughts Rhinos can go for up to five days without drinking water directly. But they still need to wallow in mud, to protect their skin from insects or parasites and the mud helps to keep them cool.
