Air has larger spaces between the molecules as compared to those in water molecules so air compresses to a greater extent than water.

How do you make air a good insulator?

its difficult but you have to compress alot of it. over 50 psi should reduce sound of a rifle just be carefull not to shoot the supressor or it will explode. but if you are looking for heat insulation, all you have to do is lightly compress the air and then run hot air into it while the cooler air comes out for reheating. water is better for heat insulation :3

Would you expect the the pressure exerted by water to be greater or less than the pressure exerted by the same amount of air?

water is more dense than air and it has atmospheric pressure also pushing down on it to make it have greater pressure than air.

Why steam can be compressed while ice cannot?

sream is water particles in air, when compressed, the air is squeezed out. Ice can compress a little - when water freezes, it expands. People have used this to split stone. For example, to get the blocks for ancient Egyptian sculpture they would carve around the part the wanted, add water and let the overnight freeze break out the rest.

Why it is easier to compress air as compare to water?

Air and other gases have spaces between the molecules, which are constantly flying around and colliding with each other and bouncing apart. In liquids, the molecules are close together, touching each other. This is why gases are compressable and liquids are not.

Why doesnt a ram jet operate statically?

A true ram jet can only operate if it is pushed through the air fast enough to compress the incoming air, mix it with the fuel, ignite the fuel causing it to be pushed forward to repeat the process. Many ram jet designs will not work below 600 miles per hour or 1000 kmh

Why is air displaced by water?

Air is displace by water because water is much denser than air and therefor is much harder to compress.

Is It is easier to compress air than water?

Yes, it is correct.

Why is atmospheric pressure and water pressure different?

The big reason is because air is air, and water is water. The second reason is because air is compressible, while water cannot be compressed. What that means is that if you compress air to twice the pressure, it will be one-half the volume. If you compress water to be twice the pressure, the volume won't change.

Why is there water on the front of your air conditioner?

This is because condensation takes place after the compressor has compress the air in it.

What does water have to do with air temperature?

it doesnt

Why won't a supersoaker water gun work if it is completely filled with water?

They pump air into the chamber and compress it. Compressed air drives out the water. You must have room for air.

Can you pump 150 gallons of water into a 50 gallon tank?

You can try, but it wont work so well for you or the tank. Water doesn't compress easily. Things with air in them compress easily. Water does not have air. But if you try anyway, tell us how it goes.

What is compress air?

when air is squashed

Air compressor will not compress air?

An air compressor is a machine that compresses air, so it must be able to compress air. If you want to buy an air compressor, you can go to VIDO's official website to check it out. vido's compressors are of high quality and are the choice of the public.

Does air compress?

yes, it does

Why can we breath air but not under water?

Under water doesnt have enough air molucules that we need. Therefore we cant breath underwater. :)

How is water pressure stored?

By storing the water at a higher elevation . Another way is to store it in a well troll. This tank has a membrane, on one side is the water that is pumped in. On the other an air chamber. Water pumped in compress the air which in turns pressurises the water.
