The small amount of friction of the wheel molecules rubbing against the surface molecules is called "rolling friction". Also, the object itself has aerodynamic resistance as it pushes it's way through the air. The combination of these two sources of drag eventually slows and stops a rolling object (on a flat surface).

Which is easier to stop sliding or rolling friction?

== == AnswersIt is easier to stop sliding friction than rolling friction. The force due to sliding friction will always be greater than the force due to rolling friction. And since friction force will be in the opposite direction of motion it will be easier to stop an object in motion that is sliding than one that is rolling.

How do you stop rock Mario in Mario galaxy?

Is a sliding CD rolling friction?

Yes. Rolling friction does not mean the object must be rolling, only that the object is in motion.

Does gravity stop a ball from rolling?

Momentum is the product of mass and velocity. When an object slows down, the object reduces in velocity. Since Mass is constant, when velocity reduces momentum reduces. thus momentum can be what stops a rolling object. However, a resistive force the reason for the reduction of velocity and subsequently halting.

What do you think causes the marbles to stop rolling?

If you were to roll a marble (across what doesn't matter), what slows the object down is called traction.

What is the definition of rolling?

The frictional force offered when rolling of an object is called rolling friction

It is harder to stop a rolloing bowling ball than a rolling ping pong ball when both are rolling at the same velocity THis is an example of?

This is an example of momentum, which is a product of the object's mass and its velocity. It is also harder to start a bowling ball rolling than a ping-pong ball due to inertia, which is related only to the object's mass.

Define the momentum of a moving object?

Momentum is a quantity that describes both the mass and the velocity of an object. To find out the momentum of a given object, multiply the object's mass (kg) by its velocity (m/s).Think of it this way: momentum is sort of the "strength" of an object's motion. An object that has a lot of momentum will be harder to stop than an object that has less momentum.Which is harder to stop, a bowling ball or a golf ball? Well, if they are moving at the same velocity, the bowling ball will be tougher to stop, because it has more mass. How about if you have two 7 kg bowling balls that are both rolling toward you, but one is rolling at 0.5 m/s and the other is rolling at 10 m/s? You'd better get out of the way of the 10 m/s ball--it'll break your ankle! :-)This is why NFL linebackers are so large--it's tougher to stop a massive object in motion than a less massive object. :-)

What does the word rolling stop mean?

It means when you come to a stop sign and you keep rolling slowly.
