Annabeth keeps telling Percy that it is dangerous to try to save her, but Percy asks "What would you do if it was your dad?" and Annabeth says the phrase, "That's easy. I'd leave him to rot." which shocks Percy, so obviously he requests to know why. Annabeth explains that her dad got remarried and forgot about Athena. He had new regular kids and his wife was really unkind to Annabeth and didn't even let her play with their regular children. So, Annabeth ran away. That's the information. P.S. I recommend that you read the series yourself instead of asking about things in WikiAnswers. Not in a mean way, it's just that you're ruining it for yourself when you don't read yourself.
