A pet fox named "Bandit" grows up and leaves the house where he was raised from a kit by two young boys. He turns into a chicken thief and all the farmers in the countryside get together to hunt him down. The fox outsmarts them by hiding in a pond, his nose sticking out of the water so he can breathe. The youngest of the two brothers wanted to be an artist and used to make framed pictures out of old box covers, drawing the pictures after the frames were made. Having gone through the life changing experience of losing his beloved pet, who ws eventually killed, the drawing he made of his pet fox was the "last cover" he drew on before his childhood was over.

Annixter calls his story "Last Cover" because it refers to the final piece or layer of concealment or protection that one uses in a strategic position during a battle or conflict. It may symbolize the culmination of the characters' efforts or the climax of the story's tension. The title suggests a sense of finality or the resolution of a major conflict.

Who is colin in last cover by paul annixter?

In the last cover, Colin is an artistic boy who helped care for the fox with his brother, Stan. They are very different, Colin is little and scrawny while Stan is tough and strong. Colin also paints to get his anger and sadness out when bandit, their pet fox, is going to be killed. Colin's father isn't proud of Colin at the beginning of the story because he paints, but at the end all three, Father, Stan, and Colin become very close. I hope this answered your question!
