Instead, Butch planned to win the fight and get rich at the same time. He won the fight and escaped the arena before Wallace's men, Jules and Vincent, could get to him. Butch hid out overnight but, by unfortunate circumstances, he had to return to his apartment the next morning. Vincent was at the apartment waiting for him while reading a book in the bathroom and he did not hear Butch come in.
