When the fish dies, its gills will push out air from the body. The moving air's force pushes the fish deeper into the water.A few minutes later, it will float up due to the air in the air bladder of the fish.

Ice floats on water because ice is less dence than water how helpful to fish that live in a lake?

The ice that covers a lake actually insulates the deeper water preventing it from freezing too, this allows fish to continue to swim and feed during the winter.

Why is it important that solid water floats rather than sinks?

it provides living creatures such as fish, insulation. If ice did not float, all of this ice would sink to the bottom of the body of water which not only cools the water temperature, but over time the entire body of water would freeze over except for a thin layer of water that forms during the summer. Life would not be able to exist the same way as it does today _______________ It is not at all important that ice floats. It is sufficient that ice floats.

Are there water-powered engines?

Yes, hydro-electric dams, waterwheels, and various other types of engines use falling water to do work. If you are wondering about the engines that claim to "burn" water by converting it into some gas first, then burning that gas back into water, then NO, those are scams and don't work. this is very truebut they do somtimes cause fish in sponing to not be able to mate and many fish die

How would you use refraction in a sentence?

The location of the fish in the water is not where it seems to be, due to the refraction of light in the water.

Is frozen water more dense than liquid water?

No. Below 4oC, water will start to become less dense as it freezes. This is due to hydrogen bonds. For more information, see the related question below.+++Very close. Water is at its maximum density at 4ºC, then becomes less dense as it cools further and freezes. Hence why ice floats, and why the consequent expansion can burst water-pipes.This property is vital in Nature because it stops lakes etc from freezing to the bottom. Therefore the fish can survive even under thick ice: they simply lie torpid in the deeper, denser, "warmer" water below.

Because fish breathe water so when their lungs fill up it makes them sink but when it empties they rise which is why dead fish come to the surface when they die.

Yes because the dead fish floats so it wont move

Why do fish turn in there back when there dead?

They don't "all" do that. The position (angle) a dead fish floats in depends upon the state of the decay in the dead fish and exactly where the main decay is.

What is a dead and decaying fish?

It's a fish that doesn't move or function and it floats. They are poisonous so don't touch them or you'll die. If it's decaying that means that the fish scales are falling off and being absorbed by the water which would make the water toxic.
