The main problem with Country Music is that is almost always about dumb stuff and it's easy to write.

Addendum:

"Twang"

Vocalists in this genre have a generally lazy vocal quality, dragging their speech with little regard for annunciation. There is an abusive relationship with the "notes" they choose to sing in their song. They slide up the scale to the "note" - often times without reaching it - and slide off the note as if they're dismounting a horse. They also prefer to hold out grating vowel sounds such as "rrr" or "aaah" instead of preferring the pure vowel sounds. The southern dialect is very lazy, simplifying consonant and vowel sounds to a slowed-down drawl, which in itself can be grating.

Subject matter

Oftentimes music in this genre is very formulaic. The title of the song is almost uniformly the last line of the song. The chorus is repetitive and long - to avoid having to write additional lyrics, presumably. The chord progression is recycled and tired. There are generally very little instrumental "breaks" where the vocal part rests. This is a very indicative feature of much of the more contemporary style where instrumental musicians never get to show off, because the music is all about the vocalist. Unlike bluegrass or classical country, modern country doesn't indulge in exciting and provocative instrumentals.

The problem isn't country music in general so much as modern country music. Old school country (Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, etc.) was original and soulful. Modern country music is all about image and style over substance. It already is what top 40 music is well on its way to being. That's why most people who hate country music are not big fans of top 40 music, either. The overly simplistic lyrics and melodies bore people who want music with soul. There are also those who refuse to listen to it just because it's not considered cool among their peer group.

Modern country is hated for the same reasons modern "chick flicks" are. Those who create these things know the easiest way to make a quick buck is to make you cry. Hence the reason they're called "tear jerkers". Not to say there aren't quality songs/movies worth crying over, but in general these writers tend to go the easy route and find the cheapest way to tug at your heartstrings. People are willing to pay big bucks for a good cry. However, it's a double-edged sword, as it's a huge turn-off for those who look beyond the slick production and saccharine lyrics and find that the song itself has no soul or substance.

that's just an opinion. Liking and disliking is very personal and one should not get agitated when somebody asks question like this. Some people like pop and others don't, some like rap and others don't similarly many people around the world like country music and so are the people who don't like it. It is just the music and your perception about it, that's all.
