It may have something to do with the way you were brought up, culture plays a big part in how we choose our mates and if the experience you have had with your own culture has been positive then it may carry over to your preferences. We always want someone we can relate to, it may be the language, religion, or skin color. Anthropologist will tell you that with this mobile society we aren't just hispanic but a mix of many different bloodlines that may categorize or pidgeon-hole a person, and even skin color has very little to do with who we are but where we're from that gives us that color. White people lack the skin pigmentation that they may derive if they lived in the desert, brown skinned people get their color from decades of living in areas with lots of sunlight. So to say that we are hispanic doesn't necessarily mean that we are "spanish" or "mexican" we may associate with a culture that has pidgeon-holed us. But if you like a hispanic person it may be because they do or say things that are familiar or that you like.
