It may be that there is something blocking the tampon, likely your cervix or vaginal wall.

Tampons need to be inserted towards the small of your back because your vaginal canal is curved so if you insert straight up you would be inserting the tampon into a vaginal wall, thus will go no further. You need to stay relaxed because if you're tense vaginal muscles tense causing the vaginal walls to clench together, thus the vaginal canal is narrower so harder for the tampon to move through. If you have a shorter vaginal canal your cervix may be sitting low so getting in the way of the tampon. Feel inside your vagina to get an idea of what is blocking the tampon.

When you sit after applying a tampon does it hurt?

It shouldn't hurt at all when you are wearing a tampon, if it does something is wrong. If it hurts when you sit down it is likely that you have not inserted the tampon far enough, thus as you sit down the vaginal muscles push against the tampon lower down in the vaginal canal. This is common when first using tampons or if you use applicators, next time try non-applicator and push further.

How does it feel to have a tampon in?

It really doesn't feel like anything if you insert it correctly. There are directions on the side of the box, and it hurts if it isn't pushed all the way inside. Hope I helped!

How do you know when your tampon is in right that you would not bleed?

Tampons should be inserted as far as you can comfortably reach or until the applicator plunger is all the way in, once in position you should not feel any significant discomfort - if it hurts to sit or move then the tampon isn't in high enough, push in further or remove and try again in a few hours. As long as the tampon is in the vagina and used correctly you shouldn't leak.

Is it normal if you're 19 and when you put your tampon in it goes crooked to one side and hurts a little bit and doesn't go all the way in?

Tampons bend a little bit and if your hands are positioned the "wrong way" sometimes it does feel like its going in sideways. Yes, probably every woman has done this. Also, if this happens, its possible your flow isn't heavy enough to be using a tampon. If you continue to use tampons and experience pain, however, please stop using them and contact a health professional.

Is it hard to put a tampon in?

I am 12 and just started my period like 2 months ago. And this month when I got my period I decided to try tampons because I was supposed to be going swimming with my friends and obviously couldn't use a pad! Luckily, I had tried inserting one while not on my period (but I wouldn't suggest that because it hurts like crap to take out a dry tampon.) But just read the instructions and you will be fine! I was so scared and was so surprised at how easy it was when I tried

Why does your period hurt worse?

I personally dont think a period hurts, i think its more annoying then ever! just going to the restroom so much to change a pad or tampon is the hardest. Espically when you our out and it is out of the way, that is the worst about my period . But some girls do have feelings about there period. But mine do not hurt. It also might be because this is only my second period. I hope this helps (:

How do you put in a tampon in details?

Tampons are inserted by putting the tampon into your vagina - it's not much more difficult than that. You need to relax when inserting the tampon, aim towards the small of your back, and insert as far as it will go. If you look on the tampon box it will have instructions, you can also find instructions online and videos on YouTube on how to insert different types of tampons.

You recently started birth control and since then it hurts to take out your tampon could the birth control be the reason?

Birth control may be related to problems when removing tampons, regarding pain during tampon removal. Hormonal birth control can cause vaginal dryness and increase the risk of yeast infections that could contribute to discomfort when using tampons. Also bare in mind that withdrawal bleeds can be lighter than menstruation so you may need to use a lower absorbency tampon too.

Why do i have sharp pains when my tampon is in?

This is probably because it's in crooked or it's not in far enough. When a tampon is properly inserted, you shouldn't feel it at all. If it hurts or is uncomfortable, pull it out and try again with a new one.
