She doesn't. She sang about Nebraska because it's where her boyfriend is from.

Actually, she released a version in which she replaces the word Nebraska with Alabama. It airs on Alabama radio stations. Look for it on YouTube.

11/22/11 UPDATE / CORRECTION: In Oregon, on all pop stations in Portland, she replaces Nebraska with "Oregon guy". I have never heard her use Nebraska or Alabama on Portland, Oregon radio stations. It is always "my cool Oregon guy." And, towards the end of this song, in the same way, she has the line, "my daddy and Oregon and Jesus Christ" as the only men she looks up to.
