As time went by, Clark's fear and mistrust caused him not to trust Lex with his secret identity, and many people think that if he had confided in lex from the beginning they would have become closer and Lex would have used all of his resources to protect Clark and help him become a hero. I guess no one will ever know. Lex grew bitter over the years toward Clark because he always knew that he was hiding something very big from him, and Lex patiently waited and gave Clark chance after chance to open up to him and to trust him, but of course Clark was blatently dishonest with him on every occasion. This sense of betrayal, combined with Clark's closeness to Lionel Luthor, the father Lex never really had, and the overwhelming reality that Lana always loved Clark and not him, caused Lex to plunge into a deep hatred and jealousness that pushed him over the edge. Whatever good was left inside of Lex Luthor was destroyed by that sense of betrayal, and he ultimately decided that Clark must be his mortal enemy. If you recall, nothing good ever came out of being an enemy of the Luthor family, so Lex's obscession with Clark and the secret that was so deviously kept from him all those years turned into a determination to destroy Clark and everything he stands for.

It's not exactly clear.... She says she married him because she loved him but I think she was unconsciously trying to hurt Clark. However, right before the wedding Lana was going to leave Lex so she could be with Clark. But Lionel threatened to kill Clark if she didn't. Later, Lana finds out that Lionel had her marry Lex so she could get inside information to help protect Clark. Lana marries Lex in the sixth season, episode "Promise." In the season finale, Lana leaves Lex . This is because she realized she didn't love him. She even tells Lex that "he isn't capable of love." She realized this earlier, when she finds out that Lex had her injected with a certain drug. The drug made her think she was pregnant (stopped her period, nausea, etc. !signs of pregnancy) Hint! Hint! She was pregnant she kinda had to marry him. Later, when Lex stopped giving her the drug it looked like she had a miscarriage. So yeah, I think she was just dating him as a jab to Clark. And than, got rushed into the marriage because of the "baby." I don't think her relationship was going anywhere with Lex. (Lex probably knew that to, that's why he faked her pregnancy)
